Weeks into months.
People come. People go.
Experiences shape us—some gently, others deeply.

Life be life’n.

And yet, in the middle of all of it, God remains constant.

This season on Seed in the Closet, we’ve been digging into inheritance—what it means to belong to God and to live from what He has already given us. We are the inheritance of God, and He is our inheritance. Not something reserved for later, but something we walk in every day.

In this episode, we sit with two powerful truths:

Life moves in cycles—what has been will be again.

God is never bound by cycles—He is always doing something new.

Ecclesiastes 1:9-10

9 What has been is what will be,

    and what has been done is what will be done;

there is nothing new under the sun.

10 Is there a thing of which it is said,

    ‘See, this is new’?

It has already been,

    in the ages before us.

Ecclesiastes reminds us that life follows familiar rhythms. Isaiah reminds us that God makes ways where none exist. Streams in wastelands. Highways in wilderness places. Provision in places that look empty.

The challenge for us is not whether God is working—but whether we can perceive it.

Isaiah 43: 18-19—

8 Do not remember the former things,

or consider the things of old.

19 I am about to do a new thing;

now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?

God tells us not to dwell on what He has already brought us out of. Not because it didn’t matter—but because it was meant to reveal who He is. Now that we know He is God, the invitation is to look ahead, to be alert, to be present, and to live from the inheritance we’ve been given.

As we move into the second half of the season, we’ll be taking a short break and returning in late January with new episodes, videos, and guest conversations that will expand and deepen what we’ve been learning together.

Until then, listen with awareness.
Be mindful of the larger picture.
And remember—while life be life’n, God be God’n.

If this message resonated with you, feel free to share it, leave a comment, or subscribe so you don’t miss what’s coming next.

Share

Subscribe now

Inheritance

Living From What God Has Already Given

Macretia Bowman Moody

Inheritance is often something we think about in the future—something we receive later, after a life is complete. Many believers associate inheritance with heaven, and while eternity is certainly part of it, Scripture reveals that inheritance is far more expansive—and far more immediate.

In Isaiah 11:1–2, the prophet speaks of a shoot coming from the stump of Jesse—a prophetic declaration pointing directly to Jesus Christ. From His roots, a Branch would bear fruit. This is not only a revelation of who Jesus is, but an invitation to understand who we are.

Jesus later affirms this connection when He tells us that He is the vine and we are the branches. If we remain in Him, we bear much fruit. The same life flowing through the vine flows into the branches.

Isaiah continues by describing what rests upon Him:
the Spirit of the Lord—
wisdom and understanding,
counsel and might,
knowledge and the fear of the Lord.

Then Jesus declares something staggering in

John 3:35: “The Father loves the Son and has placed all things in His hands.”

And again in

John 16:15: “All that the Father has is mine… and He will take what is mine and declare it to you.”

That declaration changes everything.

If Jesus has access to everything the Father has—and He has declared it to us—then what Jesus has, we have inherited.

This means our lives are not meant to be shaped by lack, scarcity, or self-reliance. We no longer live from limited resources or human wisdom. Before Christ, we determined good and evil by our own standards. We lived according to the world, society, and self—drawing from a well that could never fully sustain us.

But in Christ, we receive something different.

We inherit God’s wisdom—not ours.
God’s understanding—not ours.
God’s counsel—not ours.
God’s might—not ours.
God’s knowledge—not ours.

And with that inheritance comes reverence—holy awe for the Creator who provides everything we need.

Even when it doesn’t look like abundance, it is. Because abundance is not about excess—it’s about never running out. God’s provision reaches you and those connected to you, just as He provided for both Jesus and Peter when the need arose.

Scripture tells us to seek wisdom, and for a long time many of us believed that meant seeking people. But wisdom has a source—and it is God Himself. People may be vessels, but God is the well. When we seek Him first, He directs us to the right counsel at the right time.

This Week’s Challenge

Live from what you have inherited.

Rely on God’s unlimited wisdom
God’s unlimited understanding
God’s unlimited counsel
God’s unlimited might
God’s unlimited knowledge

Fear God.
Reverence the Creator.
Trust that you are never without—because He has already provided.

When we know who we are and whose we are, we stop striving and start abiding.
And from that place, fruit is inevitable.

🌱 You already have what you need.

If this message encouraged you, consider subscribing, sharing it with someone, or leaving a comment below. But as I worked through it, something didn’t sit right. It sounded familiar… like someone else’s voice. And that pause—that discomfort—became the invitation.

God gently redirected me and said, “Talk about this process.”

The process of waiting.

The process of sitting still.

The process of learning to discern His voice from our own thoughts, emotions, and the noise around us.

So many of us want to hear from God, but we don’t often talk about that process. Before the voice comes the silence. Before clarity comes surrender. And before direction comes intimacy.

This episode is a continuation of our conversation about Abba Father—because children who know their Father learn to recognize His voice.

We reflect on the story of Elijah in 1 Kings 19.

The lesson is simple, but not easy:

It’s possible to study Scripture and still miss God if we don’t know His heart. The Pharisees knew the Word, but they missed the Messiah. In the same way, we can anticipate Christ’s return and still struggle to recognize His voice if we haven’t learned to sit with Him.

Sometimes there is movement.

Sometimes there is silence.

But in both, God is present.

Reflection Questions:

Where do I struggle to sit still before God?

How often do my thoughts speak louder than His whisper?

Have I confused familiarity with intimacy?

Am I studying Scripture to know facts… or to know Him?

Affirmation:

I quiet my mind. I yield my thoughts. And I wait for the whisper of God.

Thank you for continuing this journey with me. If this message spoke to you, I invite you to subscribe, share it with someone who may need it, and take time this week to simply sit with God—without an agenda.

The conversation is worth it.

Share

Subscribe now

The Faith That Formed Us

Remembering Bettye Davis

Macretia Bowman Moody

This week’s message is dedicated to a woman whose life embodied holiness, strength, and prayer. My grandmother, Bettye Davis, became ill on Sunday, November 23rd, and after days of praying, watching, and holding on as a family, she transitioned into the presence of the Lord on Tuesday, December 2nd.

She prayed anywhere — and I share a memory of listening to her pray, from her heart to God’s ears. And I will show you great and wonderful things which you do not know.’

There are moments in our walk with God when He whispers something so simple—but so profound—that it changes the way we approach Him.
Recently, in a quiet moment, the Lord impressed something on my heart:

“I want a direct connection with each one of My children.”

Not secondhand revelation.
Not borrowed faith.
Not mediated conversations.

A direct line.
A clear connection.
A daily relationship.

This devotional explores that epiphany and the invitation God extends to every believer:
Come to Me. Hear from Me. Sit with Me.

🌱 The Danger of Secondhand Spirituality

We live in a world saturated with Christian voices—sermons, books, reels, clips, devotionals, and constant encouragement.
All of these are beautiful gifts… but they are not the Source.

It’s possible to be full of spiritual information
and still starving for divine revelation.

Books can supplement your walk.
Messages can support it.
Teachers can guide it.

But only God can anchor it.

He never intended for you to have a relationship through someone else.

🌱 Even Seed in the Closet is an Appetizer — Not the Meal

This podcast and devotional are designed to refresh and reaffirm your faith.
But here’s the truth:

Seed in the Closet is just a foretaste.
It’s the appetizer.
The weekly nudge that points you toward a daily, personal conversation with God.

What you hear from me is meant to awaken what God wants to say to you Himself.

I’m not your mediator.
I’m not your translator.
I’m not your spiritual go-between.

I’m simply here to stir your appetite
for the One who wants to speak to your heart directly.

🌱 Christ Removed Every Barrier

In the Old Testament, access to God was limited.
Priests mediated.
Prophets relayed.
People approached God through someone else.

But when Jesus died, the veil was torn from top to bottom.

The separation was removed.
The distance was closed.
Access was restored.

Through Christ, you inherited:

• Direct access
• Direct communication
• Direct revelation
• Direct relationship
• Direct fellowship

This is your spiritual inheritance.

🌱 Yes, Prophets Still Exist — But…

Scripture tells us God still uses the office of prophet and the gift of prophecy to edify, encourage, and strengthen the body.

But prophets cannot replace your personal relationship with God.
What the Holy Spirit wants to speak about your decisions, your healing, your identity, your purpose—
He wants to speak to you directly.

🌱 The Real Question: Are We Listening?

Many believers have mastered talking to God—praying, asking, crying out.

But listening?
Stillness?
Quieting the noise long enough to hear?

That’s the part we often neglect.

Prayer becomes a monologue…
But with meditation, we can have authentic dialogue.

🌱 Try the 5-Minute Encounter

Here’s a simple daily practice to open your heart to God’s voice:

1 minute — Sit in silence.
1 minute — Ask: “Lord, what do You want me to know today?”
1 minute — Listen.
1 minute — Write what you hear (it should align with Scripture).
1 minute — Thank Him.

Do this for one week.
Watch how God meets you.

🌱 Reflection

• Am I living on borrowed revelation?
• Do I listen to God as much as I talk to Him?
• Have I relied on others to tell me what God is saying?
• What would my walk look like if I made space to hear from Him truly?

God is speaking.
Not just to the masses—
but to you.

Thank you for reading Seed in the Closet.
This post is public — That truth led me to think about how God sees us. We were created in His image, designed to reflect His nature, His love, and His glory. Yet sin distorted that image. The reflection became blurred.

James 1:21-27 reminds us that God’s Word is the mirror of our souls. It reveals what’s out of alignment and invites us to obey, not just observe. But the Word of God tells us a greater truth:

“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 2:5).

“We have the mind of Christ” (1 Corinthians 2:16).

“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

In this episode, Veronica and I share stories, insights, and scriptures that remind us we’re not striving to become someone new — we’re learning to live out who God already designed us to be.

✨ This is Part 1 of a 4-part series:

Part 1: Setting the Foundation

Part 2: The Work of the Holy Spirit (coming next week)

Part 3: Renewing Our Minds Daily

Part 4: Our Identity Is Secure

This episode is Part 1: Setting the Foundation.
