We’ve all heard the phrase “daddy issues.”
It’s often said in jest—but beneath it lies a real ache: the longing to be seen, supported, and secure.
This week on Seed in the Closet, I want to talk about healing that ache—not by revisiting what’s broken, but by reintroducing you to the One who’s whole.
🌿 The Perfect Parent
From Genesis to Revelation, God reveals Himself as the perfect balance of Father and Mother.
He covers us like a Father—protecting, guiding, and establishing.
He comforts us like a Mother—nurturing, soothing, and sustaining.
He isn’t half of anything. He’s whole.
And when we know Him that way, we begin to live from a place of completeness.
💔 Healing the Wounds
Some of us grew up without a father’s voice to affirm us.
Some of us grew up without a mother’s arms to hold us.
But Scripture reminds us:
“I am a Father to the fatherless.” — Psalm 68:5
“As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you.” — Isaiah 66:13
God meets every emotional and spiritual deficit.
His love doesn’t just reach the places that hurt—He heals and restores what was missing.
🪞 Identity in His Image
You were created in His image—male and female, strength and softness, justice and gentleness.
Your reflection is complete in Him.
Knowing Him fully allows you to see yourself clearly.
💭 Reflect + Reimagine
This week, God invites you to reimagine how you talk with Him.
When you are praying keep yout thoughts here:
“Lord, thank You for being my Father and covering me.
Thank You for being my Mother and comforting me.”
Journal about how your past experiences shaped your view of God.
Then rewrite that narrative with Scripture as your truth.
Key Scripture (AMP)
“So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through your faith.
And may you, having been [deeply] rooted and [securely] grounded in love…
[come] to know the love of Christ which far surpasses mere knowledge…
that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.” — Ephesians 3:17–19 AMP
💚 Affirmation
I am not fatherless or forgotten.
I am not motherless or missed.
I am fully loved by God—the One who formed me.
I am covered. I am comforted. I am His.
🙏🏽 Prayer
Lord God, thank You for being the perfect Parent—for covering me when I needed protection and comforting me when I needed care. Heal every wound that came from misunderstanding love. Teach me to see You clearly—not through the eyes of my pain,
but through the truth of Your perfection. Let me rest in Your embrace and walk in the confidence of being fully known, fully loved, and fully Yours.
In Jesus name, Amen.
